Under general supervision of the Director, Culinaria Research Centre, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for the coordinating the Centre’s facilities and equipment, performing financial administration, events coordination, communications updates and other administrative functions required to support the Culinaria Research Centre. Duties include: organizing preparatory activities for Culinaria related courses and events in the kitchen lab; maintaining inventory of supplies; ensuring equipment is in proper working order; scheduling use of kitchen space; ensuring proper health and safety standards are maintained; responding to general inquiries about the Culinaria Research Centre events; organizing event logistics; preparing flyer and posters for events; monitoring budget expenditures; purchasing supplies and equipment; preparing financial documents for processing; and generating standard financial reports.
University degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of two years’ combined experience in the areas of professional food services (ie. managing a kitchen, ordering ingredients, light food prep) and general office administration, preferably in a post-secondary institution. Proven experience in events coordination and website maintenance. Accounting background or related experience and an understanding of the University’s Guide to Financial Management are preferred.
Must have excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Creative Suite, website design and maintenance, and online social media platforms. Highly proficient in food preparation and sourcing. Food Handlers’ License preferred.
Must be able to work independently and under minimum supervision in office and kitchen environments. Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a demanding and deadline oriented environment. Must have strong customer service orientation and effective interpersonal skills. Good analytical skills and attention to details. Ability to deal calmly and effectively with conflicting demands.
Hours of Work:
Core hours will be scheduled between Monday to Friday 8:45 am – 5:00 pm. Some flexibility is available in determining work schedule in consultation with the Director.

Pay Scale Group and Hiring Rate: USW Pay Band 08 — $51,957 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $66,445. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
Part Time Percentage of FTE: 50
Pro-rated Pay Scale Group and Hiring Rate: $25,979 with an annual step progression to a maximum of 33,223
