Under the general direction of the HRIS Development Manager, this position specifically supports the SAP Human Resource (HRIS) system. Responsibilities include the design and development of various reports, applications and interfaces, as well as configuration of SAP modules in order to support the delivery of human resources services to the University community. The incumbent works directly with Human Resources staff in order to develop program and report specifications. Implementation of Labour Relation’s contract settlements are also a requirement of this position. As such, the incumbent will have access to confidential information such as biographic, benefit, payroll, and salary planning data. The incumbent is also responsible for the maintenance of the SAP organization management module the development of security objects and authorizations for HRIS, and assists with training of HRIS end users.


University graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • 2+ years hands on SAP ABAP development experience
  • 2+ years of SAP HCM/ development / implementation / support / integration experience with large-scale SAP
  • R/3 implementations
  • Exemplary communications skills specifically in managing complex/technical information to a wide audience
  • Knowledge of HTML5 programming
  • Understanding of Quality Assurance methodologies
  • Experience in SAP workflow an asset
  • Experience in SAP UI5 or Fiori an asset

Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding; Successful experience providing assistance to clients with a customer service focus; Demonstrated ability to handle matters requiring diplomacy, sensitivity and confidentiality; Strong analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills for SAP role based HR/Payroll design; Demonstrated research skills to gather and analyze the system solutions and make recommendations; Project Management skills desirable.

Ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines; Must be able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

Required to be on call or work on-site outside of regular business hours; Some time commitment over and above regular working hours is required during certain business or project cycles during the year.
