Job Details

Position Title: Key Control Technician
Status: Regular Part-Time
Hours: upto 24 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Public Safety
Campus/Location: North Campus
Hourly Rate: $16.44 – $25.29

What you will do:
Under the daily direction of the Manager, Fire Safety and Security Systems, the Key Control Technician is responsible for the day to day operations of all college key control systems and inventory. This includes, but is not limited to: keys, key software, high security cylinders, audits, preventative maintenance and key schedules. The incumbent will consult with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure; effective security locking controls are applied to address risk, key management is maintained, and customer service is met throughout the college. Additional responsibilities will include traveling to room destinations and other campus locations when needed, working closely with the Manager and Access Control Coordinator to facilitate rekeying projects as required. Record keeping and data input is a major component of this positions and accuracy and precision are extremely important for maintaining college records.

What you bring to the role:

  • 2 year Diploma in related discipline (ie. Security, Business, Computers etc)
  • 1 year of practical experience working with locking hardware and keys, or other related door hardware
  • Other certifications or professional designations related to physical security are an asset
  • Incumbent may be required to enrol in key/lock affiliated courses presented by the Academy of Locksmith
  • Knowledge in Master Key Systems (Medeco)
  • Knowledge of door hardware components (ASSA Abloy)
  • Knowledge of safety and security industry standards and practices
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (word and excel)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent problem solving abilities and act effectively in stressful situations
