Title: Assistant Manager, LINX Lounge

Position Summary: The incumbent will assist the Manager in all aspects of the operation of the student lounge bar to ensure that the liability associated with the operation of a licensed facility is minimized and to ensure that daily operations are in total compliance with all aspects of the Liquor License and Gaming Act as well as Humber College policies and procedures. The successful candidate will lead a team of 25 work study students and will be responsible for the recruitment and selection of staff. The hours of operation range from 10:00am to 2:30 am, Monday to Friday plus weekends depending on special functions and events. The incumbent assumes responsibility for the operation whenever the Manager, LINX Lounge is absent. Therefore, the regular work schedule may vary. The incumbent has specific accountability for the operation of the lounge’s website as well as the marketing and promotion of responsible alcohol consumption. The incumbent will also be responsible for reconciling daily cash deposits and maintaining inventory on a daily basis.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a two year diploma in hospitality or a related field, along with a minimum of 2 years of related experience, with exposure in a high volume establishment. Preference will be given to candidates with experience catering to student clientele in a front line service position and marketing, promoting, and advertising a business. In addition, the successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, organizational and written/verbal communication skills; the ability to deal with high stress, confrontational situations and fast thinking during emergency situations; the ability to anticipate problems prior to occurrence; demonstrated ability to enforce regulations; good follow-up skills; and a flexible schedule for evening and weekend shifts. Additional qualifications include: basic accounting skills; extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and technical aptitude with AV equipment, cash registers and computer equipment.
