The Algoma District School Board and Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board invites
qualified applicants to apply for the position of Transportation Officer with the Algoma &
Huron-Superior Transportation Consortium.
Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, this position assists in the planning and administering
of student transportation services in accordance with consortium policies and provides support to
all stakeholders including school staff, parents and school transportation providers. The
Transportation Officer assists with providing direction to school transportation carriers and
assists with financial record keeping including budgets.
Summary
• Communicates with all stakeholders of the Transportation Consortium including school
administrators, school transportation providers and the public.
• Responds to inquiries from the public, addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
• Troubleshoots and resolves transportation issues for schools, students and families.
• Gathers financial information, analyzes data, and prepares financial reports including budgets
and expenditure documentation.
• Assists with collecting data and preparing reporting documentation for submission to the
Ministry of Education.
• Utilizes routing software to assist with transportation route planning to develop safe,
efficient, and cost-effective school bus routes.
• Monitors and reviews existing transportation routes, seeking continuous improvement
opportunities for bus transportation.
• Interprets mapping details including distance verification, street integration and landmark
identification, providing information to the Supervisor of Transportation to ensure operational
effectiveness.
Qualifications
• Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration or a related field.
• Two years of experience working in a business environment, including office administration
experience.
• Experience working in a customer service function, communicating with the public, will be
considered an asset.
• Experience working in a school environment will be considered an asset.
• Experience working in a transportation or logistics environment will be considered an
asset.
• Experience working with routing functions, mapping functions and/or large database software will
be considered an asset.
• Certification and/or training in process mapping, GIS mapping and mapping software will be
considered an asset.
Location and Hours of Work
Algoma & Huron-Superior Transportation Services 232-B Northern Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, ON Monday
to Friday – 35 hours per week
Salary
$60,141 to $75,144
