Position: Camp Director(s) – Toronto / Ottawa / Vancouver
Debate Camp, in operation since 2002, provides day and overnight camps where youth develop public speaking and debating skills in a fun and supportive environment. A full overview of our program, philosophy, and 2023 site locations is available on: https://www.debatecamp.com
In 2023 we are expanding our Camp Director team. We are seeking regional Camp Directors (3) who will be responsible for the site coordination for a series (one and / or a combination of) of week-long day camps operating in Toronto (5) Ottawa (1) and Vancouver (2). Our Camp Directors oversee the implementation of the academic program and daily camp operations. They liaise directly with site location personnel and oversee a team of program leaders, camp staff and interns. The Camp Director is ultimately responsible for the operation of a safe, inclusive and welcoming camp experience for all campers and camper parents.
Debate Camps are accredited by the Canadian and American Camping Associations and comply with the highest available standards for the safe operation of recreational camps for youth. Related operating standards is available on: https://www.debatecamp.com/accreditation
The successful candidate will have excellent leadership, organizational, communication, problem solving skills. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching and learning strategies for youth aged 11 – 16. The position does not require the successful candidate to have a background incompetitive debate.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Education and / or related professional certification as well as 1-3 years of classroom teaching experience. A background in summer camps, day and/or overnight is an asset. No formal or competitive background in parliamentary debate is required.
