Lead Programs That Support Student Success in Schools

Ready to lead in a fast-paced, high-impact environment? The Ministry of Education is seeking a manager to champion services that support students with special education needs. Your leadership will help shape programs that make a real difference for learners and families enrolled at Amethyst School.

You'll be a vital member of the on-site school management team, working closely with administrators to ensure lodging programs run smoothly.

Please note:

  • The lodging program runs Monday to Friday from September to June.
  • July and August are dedicated to planning for the next school year.
  • This is an on-site role with weekend on-call responsibilities for urgent issues.
  • Emergency travel to other sites may be required.

  • Build relationships and maintain open communication with parents, medical staff, and community partners.

What you bring to the team


Leadership and Managerial Experience

  • Lead with Purpose: Provide direction and oversight for lodging programs, ensuring alignment with branch priorities and goals.
  • Team-Focused Leadership: Foster a positive, collaborative work environment while motivating and developing a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional service.
  • HR Expertise: Knowledge of human resources policies and practices, including recruitment, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Inclusive Leadership: Commitment to fostering a positive, collaborative, and equitable workplace.

Specialized Knowledge

  • Legislative Expertise: Familiarity with the Education Act, O. Reg. 466/22, and related legislation governing lodging programs and education in Ontario.
  • Student Support Practices: Understanding of education delivery for students who have learning disabilities, including residential service models.
  • Health and Safety Awareness: Knowledge of common health care needs for school-aged children and strategies to ensure well-being.
  • Operational and Financial Management: Ability to manage budgets, apply administrative and HR policies, and work within collective agreements in a unionized environment.

Communication & Relationship Management

  • Engage Effectively: Strong oral and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate and Influence: Ability to build partnerships, resolve conflicts and liaison with stakeholders.
  • Innovate Together: Work with stakeholders to develop programs that enhance student and staff success.
