INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR (SUPPLY ROSTER)

We are currently accepting applications for instructors for:

Cantonese, Croatian, Filipino, Hungarian, Igbo, Italian, Mandarin, Polish,
Portuguese, Spanish, and Tigrinya

The TCDSB is proud to be a significant part of the fabric of publicly funded Catholic education in the province of Ontario. We serve approximately 84,000 students in nearly 200 Catholic schools in the City of Toronto and represent close to 475,000 Catholic school supporters.

With a staff of 14,000, the Toronto Catholic is a dynamic school board and is seeking Supply International Language Instructors on an ongoing basis. The Board maintains a roster of temporary/casual staff for assignment to cover employee absences. Supply staff are assigned from a pool on an as-needed basis.

DUTIES:

  • Providing a safe, positive, inclusive and respectful learning environment for all students
  • Exhibit professional conduct in accordance with all TCDSB policies and procedures (e.g. Safe Schools, Health and Safety, Respectful Workplace, etc.)
  • Develop goal-based daily lesson plans that reflect the Ministry’s International Education Strategy, TCDSB Curriculum Documents and other current relevant resources
  • Develop students’ knowledge and skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing in the target language, inclusive of cultural component
  • Conduct student progress reporting
  • Record and maintain, accurate and up-to-date attendance registers, and report on attendance as required
  • Collaborate with administration, school staff and school community in the best interest of student success and well being
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma plus additional teacher training/or training in language teaching methodologies; university degree preferred
  • Teaching Degree/experience from other countries will be considered
  • Language teaching experience in the Canadian classroom
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in the target language
  • Ability to develop daily lesson plan and execute lessons for students with varying abilities and language skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others

NOTE: All applicants must be practicing Roman Catholics verified through a pastoral recommendation from a Roman Catholic Parish Priest.
