LONG-TERM OCCASSIONAL EDUCATION ASSISTANTS
POSITION SUMMARY: The Aroland First Nation invites applications for long-term occasional education assistants at Johnny Therriault School. Educational assistants are to assist in the education, development and training of students as well as to assist in maintaining a smooth and efficient operation of the school in general.
Responsibilities:
• work under the supervision of a teacher and/or administrator and take direction from the professional(s) to whom they are assigned
• Assist teacher(s) with subject area projects and activities
• Assist with the supervision and training of students in the development of life skills and performance of daily activities
• Assist small groups of students or individuals with the interpretation and completion of assignments
• Assist small groups of students or individuals with the interpretation and completion of assignments
• Administer physical exercise programs as recommended and trained by OT/PT professionals or as directed by the Special Education Resource teacher/principal
• Supervise students or groups of students during recess or in the absence of the professional in charge of the group
• May perform library duties of a general nature.
Job Requirements:
• Grade 12 or working towards
• Post-secondary education or interest in higher education
• Experience working in a school setting is an asset
• Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen
Salary: Varies with Education and Experience
