Reporting to the Executive Officer, the Senior Manager, Enterprise Business Systems (EBS) as a senior member of the Information Technology Services team will contribute to the strategic planning, design, development and implementation of a sustainable and secure Information Technology environment within the TDSB.
The Senior Manager, EBS will:
● Provide effective leadership and management to staff in the functional areas of SAP ABAP/development, Basis Administration, Security Administration, HRIS and Business Processes.
● Oversee the creation, management, maintenance and oversight of the TDSB SAP strategy that will ensure the availability of the SAP technical environment necessary in meeting TDSB business requirements and that the environment is secure and recoverable.
● Develop an effective overall technical architecture for the implementation of SAP components, modules and integrations to other TDSB systems and services.
● Manage the SAP System and related technologies and set key performance measurements and metrics (Key Performance Indicators).
● Recommend, develop and maintain IT polices, procedures and standards to ensure compliance and application integrity.
● Consult and provide expertise, advice and guidance to senior team, managers, principals, vice-principals and other stakeholders in matters related to key areas of responsibility.
Summary of Duties:
Ø Develop, recommend and implement strategies for effective long term growth within the SAP area, the infrastructure and related services/applications that supports TDSB business operations;
Ø Oversee the implementation and support of SAP application packaged solutions and improving business processes.
Ø Develop and implement a “requirements generation process” to ensure SAP requirements of all parties are understood and considered.
Ø Provide functional and process support in evaluation, acquisition and development of SAP solutions and other related products.
Ø Review best practices across all aspects of SAP and IT Services to ensure cost competitiveness, optimal utilization of resources, customer service, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
Ø Define and manage service and support programs for business groups.
Ø Oversee the creation, implementation and maintenance of the SAP Enterprise Architecture that will address all attributes of SAP (and related) services including back end and end user hardware and software configurations ensuring there is long term SAP architecture for the TDSB technical teams to follow.
Ø Work with external software providers to determine the best financial approach for the TDSB for all future SAP licensing requirements.
Ø Drive successful implementation and execution of an IT Services Management System that will ensure coordinated communication and management of SAP projects and initiatives through project plans, regular status reviews, measurements and metrics management, management reports and providing problem resolution management.
Ø Work with Employee Services, Finance and Facility Senior management to assess requirements and provide leadership in the development and implementation of the SAP technology related business processes and tools for improved organizational effectiveness.
Ø Responsible for the effective management and leadership of staff (both union and non-union), including identifying staff needs, performance evaluations, disciplinary action.
Ø Provide advice, guidance and recommendations to the Executive Officer (e.g., strategies, business plans, status reports, policy development, provincial funding and/or Board budget projections).
Ø Manage, review and monitor budgets, including expenditure review and authorization, analysis of transactions, year-end projections and forecasts.
Ø Represent Information Technology Services at meetings both internally and externally.
Ø Prepare and review reports and briefing notes for the Executive Officer and other stakeholders, including Trustees.
Ø Participate in SAP Business Council and Business Operations and Administrative Technology committees.
Ø Attend and participate at various Board committees and meetings to address concerns, discuss and resolve emerging issues.
Ø Liaise with other IT organizations to build partnerships, research and share best practices e.g. ASUG.
Ø Provide leadership in fostering equity and inclusiveness in the development and implementation of programs and services.
Ø Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Ø University degree in a related discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering) with eight years of progressively responsible senior management experience providing leadership and technical expertise in an information technology environment for a large complex, multi-site public sector organization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ø Demonstrated expertise of SAP applications and proven success managing complex business processes in an SAP environment.
Ø Proven experience providing leadership in designing end to end SAP solutions integrating with non-SAP enterprise solutions to support business areas such as Human Resources, Finance, Facilities etc.
Ø Experience in all aspects of IT related areas (e.g., enterprise hardware and software, business systems, end user services, etc).
Ø Strong and proven change management skills to lead successful systemic changes to maximize users satisfaction and acceptance.
Ø Strong business acumen and well-developed analytical skills.
Ø Knowledge of SAP application support techniques, methodologies, practices.
Ø Extensive knowledge of current information technology trend and direction and ability to plan and fit business processes across applications and organizational boundaries.
Ø Knowledge and experience in business operations techniques and practices related to enterprise architecture, metric and measurement and organizational efficiencies.
Ø Knowledge of related Board policies, procedures and collective agreement provisions.
Ø Expertise and management experience in strategic planning, budgeting and project management.
Ø Supervisory experience with a proven record of effective leadership, with ability to lead and produce results.
Ø Ability to manage diverse stakeholder needs and interests and build effective relationships.
Ø Proven ability in promoting equitable practices which value inclusiveness and diversity.
Ø Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and externally, prepare reports and conduct presentations.
Special Requirements:
Ø Provision of own vehicle for Board business.
Ø Requires travel across TDSB sites.
