Job Description

A Child and Youth Worker (CYW) works as a member of the Mental Health and Well-Being team at the school level.

Our c asual CYW staff work on an on-call basis, filling in for school CYW staff on a short term or long-term basis as required.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • To support the social, emotional and/or behavioural well-being of students;
  • Provide intervention strategies and coordinate appropriate community referrals;
  • By implementing a team approach, students will be supported in a professional and confidential manner.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Completion of a three-year, post-secondary diploma in a Child and Youth Care program or equivalent;
  • Up to three months related employment or volunteer experience with children;
  • First aid, CPR, and intervention strategies;
  • Team-oriented person with well-developed interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge of community agencies and organizations;
  • Working understanding of related hardware and software;
  • In addition, may be called upon to perform other duties/responsibilities comparable to the above as the above; describes only the typical primary features of this position.

LOCATIONS: Must be able to travel to all locations within the Niagara Catholic District School Board jurisdiction.

HOURS:

  • Varies as needed on a casual on call basis for long-term placements. Must be available Monday to Friday for Elementary and Secondary School hours.
