Reporting to a designated Manager, the SAP Senior Functional Analyst will serve as a technical SAP Functional expert providing senior level SAP configuration and application support to the SAP Business Process team.

The SAP Senior Functional Analyst will:

  • Provide expertise to support SAP business processes and solutions that will meet the needs of the TDSB;
  • Provide expertise in strategic design and building functional requirements in various modules, including Finance, Controlling, Asset Accounting, Funds Management, Materials Management, Sales and Distribution, Inventory Management, Plant Maintenance, Project System and Real Estate Management;
  • Serve as project lead on SAP and other ERP large scale initiatives;
  • Act as an internal consultant to key business stakeholders and various groups within the TDSB.

Summary of Duties:

Ø Perform senior level configuration, system analysis and system support activities in the SAP functional areas FI, CO, AA, MM, SD, PM, PS and RE modules to enable specific project planning and execution functions;

Ø Provide strategic advice and guidance to management in forecasting system needs and preparing a plan for defining the demand for services and associated resources for SAP modules; Provide functional/technical direction and support to the SAP teams;

Ø Supervise designated staff including interviewing and selection of staff, training/instruction, establishment of performance standards and objectives, monitoring of performance and taking corrective actions as required;

Ø Provide contingencies, allocates resources and establishes priorities;

Ø Design and implement SAP solutions using best practices and standards for SAP;

Ø Document and develop detailed design and configuration processes for the production environment;

Ø Review TDSB business processes and procedures, update business process documentation and make recommendations to take maximum advantage of software;

Ø Ensure successful delivery of SAP related projects through planning, development, review and maintenance of project plans, regular status reviews, management reports and problem resolution management;

Ø Assemble the appropriate processes, components and capabilities to address requirements for SAP Solutions and audit compliance;

Ø In collaboration with operational staff, SAP support team, ensure that all documentation including Business Processes (with audit controls), Business Process Procedures, Test Scripts, and Configuration documentation is maintained up-to-date at all times;

Ø Document specifications for configuration and custom program through consultation with ABAP and Basis groups

Ø Provide impact/option assessments to facilitate workable efficient solutions;

Ø Conduct investigation regarding application usage by end users, including evidence collection and analysis, and documentation of findings;

Ø Diagnose program errors and bugs with ABAP resource and provides the correction with accurate solutions and fixes;

Ø Evaluate system strategies related to components not being utilized by the TDSB and/or recommends new initiatives when justified;

Ø Identify potential problems and/or assesses application configuration to implement process improvements;

Ø Work with SAP team members to create and/or facilitate full unit and system testing to ensure the new functionality work according to specifications and requirements;

Ø Assist with the adaptation and customization of SAP documentation to create TDSB-relevant content (e.g., documentation, reports and training manuals);

Ø Ensure effective co-ordination and integration with other functions including other SAP units;

Ø Participate in the development and implementation of corporate standards and processes regarding the required functionality;

Ø Research and maintain up-to-date on SAP trends, including upgrades and newer technologies and provide advice on impacts and implementation strategies to the SAP Management as required;

Ø Provide leadership in fostering equity and inclusiveness in the development and implementation of programs and services; and

Ø Other duties as assigned.


Ø University degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Business Administration) with five years of progressively responsible related SAP experience within a large unionized public sector environment or equivalent combination of education and experience;

Ø Must be a senior level SAP expert specializing in configuration, features/functions and program development.

Ø Certification in at least one of the relevant SAP modules;

Ø Understanding of interfaces between corporate information systems (e.g. Concur, Work Manager, HRIS, SIS, SAP, SFE, SABA, ministry reporting) and how they operate and interact;

Ø Experience in business and process modelling methodologies and tools, business case development methodologies, system design and analysis;

Ø Demonstrated research skills to gather and analyze information and make appropriate recommendations;

Ø Understanding of and a proven ability to apply Project Management Institute (PMI) methodology;

Ø Business re-engineering skills;

Ø Proven leadership and supervisory skills;

Ø Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;

Ø Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving, conflict management and time management skills.

Ø Proven ability to communicate effectively (verbal, oral and written) with all levels of staff as well as external agencies;

Ø Knowledge of related TDSB policies and procedures, collective agreements and pertinent legislations;

Ø Demonstrated ability to handle matters requiring diplomacy, sensitivity and confidentiality; and

Ø Proven ability in promoting equitable practices which value inclusiveness and diversity.

Special Requirements:

Ø Requires occasional travel across TDSB.

Ø May be required for occasional support on evenings, weekends based on operational requirements
