This is a supply, on-call position and hours are not guaranteed, hours could range from 0 hours to 40 hours per week. This is an afternoon shift working from approximately 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday to Friday during the school year, but during holidays and summer clean-up there could be alternate work hours.
Major Duties:
1. Clean Assigned Areas
2. Monitor and Adjust the Controls for the Building Equipment for Heating, Cooling, Ventilation and Energy Conservation
3. Perform Minor Maintenance as required
4. Perform Season and Periodic Duties
5. Assist Lead Custodian/Group Leader, the Principal, the Teaching Staff and After Hour Users of the School Facility as requested and as required
6. Perform such other Duties as may be Assigned by the Supervisor
Equipment Used:
Floor cleaning equipment including vacuum cleaners, wet and dry mops, small brush, floor bucket, scrubbers, buffers and polishing machines, hand tools (saw, hammer, drill), power tools, snow blower, lawn mower, rake, computer/printer.
Note: The exact distribution of custodial job duties will vary with the size of the school. In larger schools the cleaning of washrooms, the dusting and the spot cleaning tasks are normally done by a cleaner. In these schools the night custodian may have some supervision responsibilities with respect to the cleaners. In the smaller schools where cleaners are not part of the custodial staff, the cleaner's job duties will be performed by the custodian.
Qualifications:
1. Grade 12 diploma
2. 6-12 months training
