Dates: Monday- Friday 8:15am – 3:30 pm ASAP-June ( excluding PA days, winter holidays, march break, summer)
Compensation: $25-28/hr

Responsibilities
- Develop/ Implement a high quality, engaging curriculum based outdoor nature kindergarten program
- This class is a small class with less than 13 kids a Teacher and an ECE
- Helping to facilitate activities that engages children from ages 3-6
- Take and record attendance, monitor email and engage with families and parents
- Create and plan lessons, activities that ensure that participants are having a fun, safe, and engaging high quality learning experience
- Promote nature education by planning engaging lessons
- Understand the various needs of all children in your program and differetiate programming to meet the needs of all students.
- Plan with teaching assistant
- Maintain a safe, organized classroom, which supports all students independent learning, collaboration, and choice
- Provide instruction in a variety of areas follow day plan if available
- Communicate with parents and guardians regularly, send an email at the end of each day outlining the activities that children participated in and include photos
- Be comfortable around water, beach. Monitor children vigilantly.
- Supervise and ensure children are being safe and supported at all times during their program
- Ensure that student are on time for pick up at 3pm at Queen st. East location. Or other location if previously arranged.
- Follow Health and Safety protocols, weather warnings and procedures including Covid-19 guidelines. We align with current public health recommendations.
- Clean up after activities ensuring that the learning and playing areas are clean, organized-and safe to ensure the Health & Safety of all participants.
- Maintain the safety of children, understanding sun/ snow safety.
- Assess risks and risk management of sites and children, perform a site check upon arrival
- Ensure first aid kits and contact information are properly handle and stored.
- Encourage community culture
- Familiarize yourself with the school philosophies and forms.
- Fill in proper paperwork when dealing with incidents and accidents
• Other duties as required
Qualifications
•Teaching Qualification OCT and Forest School Practitioners course is an asset
Experience working in an outdoor environment with children
• Extensive Experience teaching children
• Love for the outdoors
• Current First Aid and CPR with level C ( can be obtained sometime in the first 6 months)
• Police Vulnerable Sectors Check
• Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication skills with parents/ guardians, children and staff,
• Experience and sensitivity in dealing with members of all cultural and racial
backgrounds, including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity .
• Physically capable of working in all weather conditions, carrying a backpack, carrying
learning materials. Abilities to walk for long periods on uneven terrain.
• Understand play based learning, outdoor learning and principles of risky play.

Our Kindergarten program is offered Full time Monday- Friday as well as part time on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Grade School 1-4 program is on Thursdays. For students grade 4-6 we are offering a monthly skill based Forest Friday class. We use both the waterfront and Glen Stewart Ravine as our classrooms, with our Queen Street East headquarters serving as our home base and pit stop.
