Reporting to the Coordinator, Technology Integration, the Senior Analyst, Technology Architecture will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and effective use of the TDSB Technology Architecture, with a focus on developing strategic Enterprise and Cloud technology implementation and integration Solution designs and processes.
The Senior Analyst will also:
Summary of Duties:
Ø Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate staff of the Architecture group;
Ø Receive technical architecture design request, evaluate merit and propose a design through a design memorandum;
Ø Develop/Architect Enterprise infrastructure+system solutions to be serviced by On-Premises, Hybrid and Multi-Cloud ecosystems;
Ø Identify future workloads and evaluate existing capacity, identify gaps and recommend alternatives following a cost analysis
Ø Work across internal teams, groups and with external partners to develop and deliver Solutions that drive new technology innovations and modernize existing ones, while maintaining TDSB approved standards and determining achievable service levels;
Ø Drive relationships across Large Enterprises, Cloud Service Providers (CSPs), OEMs, System Integrators, and other ecosystem Partners;
Ø Allocate or schedule resources for technical architecture design, process development, and planning;
Ø Coordinate, manage and schedule the implementation of test and production builds of the new systems being designed;
Ø Maintain effective and open communication to keep Technical Support staff abreast of technology developments;
Ø Build and maintain a solution architecture blueprint for the system & service infrastructure;
Ø Develop and maintain a Solution Architecture Service Map;
Ø Work with TDSB IT teams to define the service and support matrix for a new architected solution;
Ø Define production, development and test environments;
Ø Monitor adherence to architectural standards and investigate variance;
Ø Work with TDSB IT security teams to define the security requirements for the technology to be implemented;
Ø Review security vulnerabilities of the environment on an ongoing basis and recommend resolutions;
Ø Remain current with industry trends and routinely review internal practices and standards and as required, improve and publish changes to the environment through the architectural design request cycle;
Ø Work with vendors on new, advanced, or emerging technology evaluation;
Ø Define technical specification for technology product and services;
Ø Supervise technology proof of value/concepts to ensure outcomes align with service requirements;
Ø Provide leadership in fostering equity and inclusiveness in the development and implementation of programs and services
Ø Other duties as assigned;
Ø University Degree in Computer Science with five years’ progressive experience in a Systems Architecture responsible for technology infrastructure component selection, installation, integration and support in a Windows environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Ø Proficiency working with server virtualization, enterprise architecture, large systems design, networking, large-routed networks,and end to end systems integration;
Ø Experience implementing emerging enterprise and cloud technologies such as analytics, container storage, software defined storage systems, converged and hyperconverged systems, and open-source infrastructure solutions;
Ø Demonstrated experience in the development and deployment of Enterprise and/or Cloud Solutions Architecture;
Ø Thorough understanding of Enterprise and Cloud Solution stacks that span computer, networking, storage, and infrastructure and application management and orchestration;
Ø Knowledge of a DevOps culture and Agile methodology as well as experience in a Scrum process and Kanban Framework.
Ø Strong background in virtualization, containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes), and high-value workloads/Enterprise applications with a particular focus on analytics;
Ø Understanding of Cloud SaaS (Software as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service);
Ø Experience in the use of Microsoft and Google Productivity suite of resources;
Ø Understanding of contents and intent of Information Technology strategic and operational plans, policies and standards and contents and intent of Service Level Agreements;
Ø Detail oriented and analytical with strong problem solving;
Ø Strong time management and project management skills including the ability to multi task and priortize;
Ø Successful supervisory experience with strong leadership, mentoring and team building skills;
Ø Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills;
Ø Collaboration skills, and willingness to engage and interface with all levels of the organization;
Ø Ability to work in a highly dynamic and fast-paced team environment;
Ø A demonstrated commitment to work effectively in an environment which promotes equitable practices and values diversity
Ø Provision of own vehicle for Board business.
Ø Requires some travel across TDSB sites and to outside suppliers.
