1 Year Contract Starting Late August 2022

The York School is looking for a French Teacher to teach the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and/or Middle Years Programme (MYP). The successful candidate will be an Ontario Certified Teacher with training and experience teaching French as a second language. The key responsibilities include teaching French in either the Junior or Middle School, collaborative planning, attending meetings, a commitment to participate in co-curricular activities, supervision duties and any other duties related to fulfilling the position.


  • Teach Junior and/or Intermediate Level French
  • Teach within the IB (International Baccalaureate) framework and philosophy
  • Prepare course objectives, lesson plans and outline for course of study, following IB and ministry curriculum guidelines, and deliver program
  • Incorporate technology in lessons to enhance the classroom experience 
  • Ongoing assessment of students, including report cards, progress reports and marking
  • Establish and enforce student expectations with disciplinary strategies for an effective teaching and learning environment 
  • Lead co-curricular activities (specifically coaching)
  • Participate in or lead experiential trips
  • Supervision duties as well as other duties related to the position
  • Participate in collaborative planning, committees and meetings


  • Must have an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) Certificate (Junior and/or Intermediate Divisions) 
  • Qualifications in French
  • Training and experience teaching the IB (International Baccalaureate) PYP (Primary Years Programme) or MYP (Middle Years Programme) are considered  assets
  • Familiarity with the Managebac and Blackboard learning platforms considered an asset
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with students, parents and teachers cheerfully, enthusiastically, courteously, patiently and with discretion 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and busy environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • A proactive team player who is flexible and self-motivated with a “How can I help?” attitude
  • Proficiency in Google Applications considered an asset
