Our vibrant Junior School is looking for a positive, creative and spectacular Resource teacher to complement an exceptional learning community. This is a part-time (80%) permanent position commencing in late August 2025. The successful candidate will be an experienced teacher with knowledge of best practices for grades 3 through 6 and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team. 

Position Requirements

  • Identify individual learning needs through the use of formal and informal assessment strategies

  • Design, prepare and deliver individualized instruction in class, or in small groups outside of the classroom 

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to communicate, educate and assist in implementing strategies to foster inclusivity, student achievement and positive self-efficacy

  • Demonstrated success and ability to engage with and coach a neuro-diverse student population toward cognitive growth and development 

  • Consistently foster a trusted, safe and inclusive learning environment to support and challenge students in achieving their potential    

  • Document and maintain comprehensive Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in accordance with best practices

  • Keen awareness of and interest in understanding each student’s capabilities, challenges and interests with an asset-based lens

  • Liaise with classroom teachers and School leadership to communicate feedback for assessment/report cards

  • Proactively build relationships with families to partner with and support student learning growth and development  

  • Knowledge of current best practices, up-to-date research, and interest in professional development opportunities for Resource teachers

  • Excellent communication, organization and collaboration skills; 

  • Demonstrated ability to build anti-oppressive school culture, inclusion, equity and a sense of belonging for each student;

  • An enthusiastic, kind and positive nature; 

  • A commitment to the co-curricular life of the school;

  • Strong relationship-building skills and a joy for working with students of this age group.

  • Other duties as required.

Work and Educational Experience

  • A Bachelor of Education in good standing eligible with the Ontario College of Teachers

  • A Master’s degree in Education or Special Education Additional Qualification desirable

  • 2 years of Resource teaching experience preferred

  • An understanding of and commitment to inclusive education

  • Knowledge of and commitment to Inquiry and Project-Based Learning strategies in a Cooperative Learning environment
