Humber’s Centres of Innovation and Entrepreneurship will integrate applied research into program curricula and provide students with access to interdisciplinary and industry projects. We are seeking faculty who will provide students with an exceptional learning experience as we immerse our students in experiential learning and programs that empower them to think critically, make bold choices and become leaders of change.
Position Title: Professor, Cybersecurity
Status: Full Time
Faculty/Department: Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology
Campus/Location: North Campus
Salary: Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees.
What you will do:
The successful candidate will be required to teach courses in the Information and Communication Technology Cluster within the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, particularly for the courses and programs related to Cybersecurity and the B.Eng. degree program in Information Systems Engineering at the North campus. The success candidate will also get involved and support activities that contribute Humber’s Centres of Innovation (COI). In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include curriculum development, lesson planning, assessing student progress and achievement, class management, contribution in program development, applied research, and other co-curricular activity involvement. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an effective learning environment and work as a collaborative team member.
In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to play an active role in student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement. The candidate will be expected to further develop community partnerships, as well as participate on Humber College/Departmental committees and advance college initiatives. This individual will also contribute to the overall direction of the programs, assisting with the promotion and marketing of the programs, and developing and maintaining strong industry ties.
What you bring to the role:
The successful candidate will have a M.Sc. (Ph.D. preferred) in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Network, Internet of Things (IoT), Wireless Sensor Networks, or in a related field of study with a minimum of three years of industry experience in relevant field. The successful candidate must have polytechnic post-secondary teaching experience, or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry.
Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (Licensed engineers with PEO is preferred) is also an asset, with knowledge of the related disciplines.
The incumbent must possess significant experience working on industry projects in a collaborative/team-based environment, with demonstrated results. Experience in applied research projects, collaborating with industry or having an established program of applied research, would be an asset. Integration of industry-led projects into curriculum is an asset.
The successful candidate will possess well-developed interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability in curriculum development and delivery as well as the ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students and commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment. A strong network of contacts and affiliation with other professionals, organizations/associations and industry are assets.
