Job Description
The Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf seeks candidates to work with deaf and hard of hearing children in a bilingual/bicultural setting.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with individual and group programs
- Supporting multi-challenged deaf children
- Helping with physical care needs
- Following specialized programs from other professionals
- Assisting with program preparation
Required Qualifications:
- Community College certificate and/or equivalent training, education and working experience in a child-related field
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification with AED
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff using American Sign Language (ASL)
Desired Skills:
- Experience with deaf children and behavioural disorders
- Knowledge of behaviour management programs
- Understanding of special education needs
- Strong analytical and observation abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
Position: 2 temporary seasonal positions (September to June, recurring), Belleville.
