The Durham District School Board acknowledges that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships, both historic and modern, with the territories upon which our school board and schools are located. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sort and Deliver Mail

  • Empty courier delivery bags, sort, and distribute the mail for the Education Centre staff and Schools as required.
  • Hang empty courier bags and load large number of pieces of mail into them for the next day's delivery;
  • Sort and distribute bulk mail on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis from various departments throughout the Board (i.e. payroll stubs, job postings, distributions for schools, etc.);
  • Locate staff by system-wide communication to ensure that mail and media materials are sent to the proper locations.
  • Receive parcels/packages from outside carriers such as Purolator, FedEx, Canpar. Record and distribute accordingly.
  • Process all outbound shipments for the DDSB and resolve any customer service issues with the vendor.
  • Manage and process all E-Waste tickets for the schools and the Ed Centre. This includes iPads, hardware, cameras etc.
  • Responsible for monitoring stock inventory including ordering supplies, updating mail slots and arranging preventative maintenance for postage equipment.


Perform Such Other Duties as May be Assigned.

Equipment Used:

  • Photocopier, 2 and 4 wheeled carts, computer/printer, electronic postage scale.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Secondary School Diploma, and up to three (3) months of related employment experience, or an equivalent combination of formal education and related employment experience;
  • A sound knowledge of computer applications would be an asset (Oracle and Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 kg;
  • Ability to prioritize duties;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and public.


Additional Information

  • This is a 17.5 hour per week, permanent, 10 month position.
  • The current work schedule is Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Provide a current Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening upon hire.
