Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream Two-year Contractually Limited Term Appointment in Education and Society (Social Justice Education) Victoria University in the University of Toronto invites applications for a two-year contractually limited term appointment (renewable) in its Education & Society program. This appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, and will begin on July 1, 2024. Minimum qualifications: A completed PhD or EdD in Education or a closely related field Relevant university-level teaching experience and a record of excellence in undergraduate teaching, as demonstrated by the teaching dossier, evaluations, and letters of reference Scholarly expertise in Social Justice Education, as demonstrated by a track record of research and publication. Specific areas of teaching and scholarship that are of particular interest include: anti-racism; critical race theory; feminism, gender, and queer studies; disability studies; child and adolescent psychology. Preferred qualifications: An u nderstanding of Ontario’s public education system through research and/or practical experience working in schools Experience supervising and mentoring students in research and internships Ideal candidates will be prepared to teach core courses in Victoria College’s Education & Society program and small first-year seminars in the foundational Vic One program in the areas of: Equity and Diversity in Education, Social Justice in Education, Child and Adolescent Development, School and Society, and Theories and Practices of Teaching. They should also have the ability to supervise education internships in local schools and NGOs.
