Receptionist
Contract - Full Time
(Commencing January 2026 until March 2027)

Annual Salary Range: $50,000 - $56,000

The Receptionist is the first point of contact for students, staff, families, visitors, and service providers at BSS, creating a welcoming and professional first impression by greeting and directing all arrivals with warmth, efficiency, and care. As a member of the Senior School Front Office, the Receptionist works collaboratively and procedurally with faculty, students, parents, and staff in alignment with the School’s vision, philosophy, and strategic plan. In addition to delivering an exceptional front-line experience, the role provides administrative support to the Vice Principal of Student Experience, including calendar management, visa reconciliation, meeting coordination, and travel arrangements.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provides professional, friendly help and direction to members of the BSS community and the public including students, staff, families, visitors, and service providers at BSS
  • Answers the main phone lines, actively monitors the Sign In app and verifies guest identification with the BSS employee they are visiting
  • Ensures the reception area is always inviting and presentable 
  • Acts as gatekeeper for the safety of community members upon entrance 
  • Has an in-depth knowledge of school’s Crisis Management protocols and helps to execute crisis management protocols during evacuations and drills
  • Keeps fire drill attendance lists up to date with student additions, withdrawals and updates classroom binders
  • Handles the outgoing courier and all transportation processes, including scheduling and invoice reconciliation
  • Develops processes and systems for the reception area – orders, codes and reconciles taxi chits
  • Stays informed about daily routines and special events to provide timely and helpful support to visitors
  • Supports the front office with routine administrative functions such as data entry, correspondence preparation, scheduling, intranet postings, mailings, shredding, mail, faxes, filing, maintaining electronic and hard copy as needed
  • Supports VP Student Experience with administrative tasks such as:
    • calendar management and visa reconciliation
    • Books and arranges travel, transport, and accommodation 
    • Support with scheduling and coordination with breakfast club, Prom and Grade Trips
  • Reviews and provides support for all Senior School Category 1 excursions - co-curricular,  including the preparation of forms, sending to families/students, and preparing documents necessary for teachers for the excursions 
  • Support with the High Performing Athlete (HPA) Program with administrative tasks

Who You Are:

  • Receptionist experience, ideally in an educational environment
  • Outstanding focus on customer service 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both in person and over the telephone 
  • Professional and reliable at all times 
  • Proven ability to be vigilant with respect to security issues 
  • Demonstrates tact, diplomacy and patience 
  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment and make split-second decisions 
  • Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Competence in the effective use of databases
