Writer’s Toolkit Teacher

(Stipend payment of $1,498)

Our Academic Skills program at BSS is an exceptional way for students to get ahead, catch up or explore something completely different. We welcome students of all genders to engage in exceptional learning, including immersive credit courses, weeklong programs to improve math, French and writing skills, and Signature Programs focused on leadership and STEM. 

We are looking for a passionate teacher to support our week-long Writer’s Toolkit program for Grade 9 - 10 students this August. In this role, you will lead an engaging curriculum designed to enhance students’ skills across a variety of writing styles and contexts.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design & Deliver Focused Workshops: Develop engaging sessions that address essay organization, grammar, style, and voice.
  • Facilitate Daily Practice: Guide students through writing exercises to build fluency, clarity, and technique.
  • Provide Personalized Feedback: Review student work daily, tailoring your guidance to individual strengths and areas for growth.
  • Encourage Peer Collaboration: Lead group activities that promote shared insights, supportive critique, and teamwork.
  • Inspire Confidence: Help students embrace a positive mindset, recognizing themselves as capable writers who can communicate with clarity and purpose.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor of Education required 
  • Must have an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate 
  • Intermediate and/or Senior Divisions qualification in English
  • Strong proficiency in Google Suite; knowledge of Brightspace an asset   
  • A demonstrated passion for innovation and creativity in education 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the proven ability to develop relationships and a caring rapport with students and their families, and with teachers 
  • Commitment and desire to create inclusive and diverse spaces of belonging  
  • Proven strengths in problem-solving and adapting to change
