Faculty 100% (80% Learning Services, 20% Teaching)
Permanent - Full Time

What You’ll Do:

Learning Specialist for Independent Education Plans (IEP)

  • Interprets psychologist reports, and creates IEPs for students in Grades 9-12, and monitors and updates the report as necessary.
  • Meets with students and parents to clarify the psychologist’s report and its translation into an IEP.
  • Works closely with the faculty to educate on creating successful learning experiences for students with differentiated learning needs.
  • Collaborates with a student’s counsellor to support a healthy mindset as a student embraces and thrives with her learning exceptionalities.
  • Maintains regular communication and contact with students about their IEP, including meeting with IEP students and their parents on university transition with an IEP.
  • Liaises with the College Board and ACT for accommodations for IEP students.
  • Assists students attending the LSC (Grades 7-12), both during the day and after school, who require additional support around concept attainment, homework completion and assessment.

Direct Instruction re Learning Strategies

  • Provides responsive, informal coaching support: offer flexible, as-needed collaboration through classroom visits, co-planning conversations, resource sharing, and reflective dialogue to promote the use of Universal Design for Learning and differentiated practices.
  • Collaborates with other leads and learning specialists to cultivate a responsive, coherent, and impactful coaching culture.
  • Provides expert instruction in the areas of organization and executive functioning, to both individual students and groups (e.g. classroom visits, study skills workshops, etc.).
  • Conducts ESL assessments in September and recommends placement. Communicates with those students’ teachers for accommodations.

High Performing Athletes (HPA)

  • Works with HPA students to manage workload for absences and for academic support to consolidate missed learning.
  • May teach an HPA focused GLS/IDC course.
  • Liaises with the Student Success Team, and other HPA Program personnel to ensure a comprehensive framework of support.

Data, Reporting & Impact

  • Collects, analyzes, and applies qualitative and quantitative data to inform coaching, professional learning, and decision-making related to learning strategies, UDL and DI.
  • Monitors and articulates the impact of learning strategy initiatives on deep student learning, well-being, and success.

General

  • Participates in the life of the school.

Who You Are:

  • Expert knowledge in all areas of learning strategies with Special Education qualifications.
  • Ability to share that knowledge with students in a non-judgmental manner.
  • Passion for and commitment to working with all adolescents, especially those who learn differently.
  • Willingness to participate as a supervisor of co-curricular activities.
    • Demonstrated commitment to girls’ education and an appreciation for and understanding of the developmental needs of adolescent girls.
  • Strong technology skills – for learning and development of documentation
  • Culturally competent with a positive attitude toward cultural uniqueness and a readiness to accept and respect others
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office 
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

Annual compensation is based on our Faculty Grid, which factors in qualifications and up to 12 years of teaching experience. Rates are set to increase for the 2026–2027 academic year.

  • Entry to 6 Years: $69,000 – $98,000
  • Over 6 Years: $99,000 – $134,000
