Spirit of Math Teacher - Grade SK to 2 - Windsor East

Job Profile

Join Spirit of Math as it opens its first campus in Windsor, ON as a Grade SK to 2 Teacher.  The entire campus will begin operations opening only one day a week and add additional days as enrollment grows. All roles will be part-time initially.

In addition to possessing the above traits, you have an eagerness to learn the Spirit of Math method of teaching mathematics. You will be challenged to help students discover the conceptual building blocks and relationships which undergird mathematics. The training you will receive as a Spirit of Math teacher will deepen your understanding of math and stretch your abilities as a teacher. 

Eligibility and Requirements  

• Must be 18+, with a Bachelor’s Degree, and will be hired as an employee. A Bachelor of Education degree is an asset, but it is not mandatory. 

• Successful completion of mandatory background screening (vulnerability check)  

• Completion and passing of Spirit of Math’s online Fundamentals of Math 1 program.  

• Completion and passing of Spirit of Math’s in-person Fundamentals of Math 2. The program is one week long. 

• Ability to commit to regular weekly shifts from end of August to end of June. 

• Professional communication and classroom conduct required. 
   

Responsibilities 

The Teacher fosters a high trust learning environment, develops the values and math skills of students and builds strong relationships with parents.  

The Teacher will be responsible for the following: 

a) Effectively managing the classroom to maintain a safe, orderly learning environment 

b) Adhering to the Spirit of Math teaching methodology and administrative system 

c) Delivering lessons to students 

d) Grading students assignments, tests and exams 

e) Building and maintaining relationships with parents 

f) Addressing issues with students’ performance and behaviour 

g) Drafting report cards three times per year 

h) Managing assistant teachers as needed 

i) Maintaining an up-to-date and accurate records of grades and attendance 

j) Performing peer evaluations periodically
