In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Complementary and Compassionate Services, the Special Education Technician for the visually impaired will detect, evaluate, and guide students who are visually impaired or blind and provide strategies and recommendations to support their academic success. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: FUNCTION & DUTIES: Support the visually impaired student's inclusion in the classroom; Instruct student in reading and writing braille and in the use of special equipment or supports such as human or animal guides, long canes, and other adaptive devices; Adapt and implement psychoeducational support in collaboration with student counsellor and SSP that meets the academic and administrative requirements of the school board; In collaboration with school, parents, and external resources, gathering information to assist in the adaptation of learning and evaluation materials appropriate to assist the students'...
