Education Consultant in English as a Second Language and Social Studies

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Second Language Curriculum Development, this position entails collaborating with the pedagogical support team to assist schools in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs, teaching methods as well as class management and instructional materials.

FUNCTION & DUTIES:

  • Visit schools in Nunavik communities in order to provide necessary educational support to teachers in English as a second language and Social Studies;
  • Participate in the development of the programs and the pedagogical material that are Inuit-centred or are founded on Inuit educational values;
  • Pursue the development and implementation of the Nunavik history program by working with consultants, community members, students and teachers;
  • Develop educational material and evaluation tools; deliver and evaluate uniform exams;
  • Follow up on inventories of required material for English and Social Studies in the English sector;
  • Support specific projects in these teaching fields;
  • Carry out related tasks.


QUALIFICATIONS:

First level University Degree in a relevant specialization.

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Legal qualification to teach from the province of Québec, or Canada;
  • Experience as a teacher, leader, or trainer;
  • Computer literacy;
  • Extensive knowledge of English is essential;
  • Knowledge of Inuktitut and/or French is an asset.


CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2104: From $55,282 to $102,857 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
