School Transportation Technician

Job Description

FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Logistics Assistant Director, the School Transportation Technician supports the supervisor in their duties and acts as a key resource for the Transportation division. The employee will be responsible for:
  • Making travel reservations and changes and respond to travel requests.
  • Entering passenger information in the transportation system.
  • Verifying invoices and the payment of travel expenses.
  • Communicating with airlines regarding tickets and fares.
  • Issuing excess baggage slips.
  • Assisting administrators with the school board's institutions and administrative units.
  • Collaborating and supporting the Transportation team by performing various administrative tasks.
  • Maintaining the filing system.
  • Performing other related tasks.


QUALIFICATIONS:

College diploma (DEC) or other diploma or attestation of studies recognized as being equivalent.

Five (5) years of relevant experience in passenger and/or freight transportation.

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluency in at least two of the working languages of the Board (Inuktitut, French, English)
  • Experience in transport and logistics in remote areas (Nunavik, Nunavut, etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Dynamic and autonomous, with strong time management skills, organized and able to prioritize.
WORK SCHEDULE:

35 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

In accordance with the AENQ collective agreement for support staff, this position belongs to job category 4280: from $26.26 to $32.86 an hour depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
