Job Description

FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director General and in cooperation with other administrators of the department, the incumbent is responsible of assessing and coordinating in terms of administrative activities including school organization, staffing and resource management.

In general, this position includes the following responsibilities:
  • Coordinate allocation of Kuujjuaq housing with the Center Directors
  • Update and follow up on supervisor correspondence.
  • Manage facilities of the Kuujjuaq office.
  • Plan meetings and take detailed minutes.
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports.
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator of Center Directors regarding training needs.
  • Travel to communities to provide individualized support.
  • Participate in the implementation of policies and procedures specific to their mandate.
  • Liaise with executive and senior administrative assistants to handle requests and queries from senior managers.
  • Participate in the recruitment for the department.
  • Supervise, mentor, and manage employees under their responsibility.
  • Any other related tasks as determined by their supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five (5) years of relevant experience, including at least two (2) years in a management position;
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field


The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluency in two (2) of the three (3) official languages of KI (Inuktitut, English and French).
  • A Minimum of three (3) years in Indigenous education systems, preferably within this School Board.
  • An understanding of Chapter 17 of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement is an asset.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Great interpersonal skills.


CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

Class 00-08* as per the working conditions of KI's managers: from $101,612 to $135,480 annually depending on qualifications and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
