INNOVATION AND DATA LEARNING LEAD

(1.0 FTE position to be based out of Fort Frances, Stratton or Atikokan)

(1.0 FTE position to be based out of Dryden or Sioux Lookout)

The Innovation and Data Learning Lead provides system leadership to strengthen student achievement and well-being

through evidence informed instructional improvement, technology enabled learning and innovation, experiential and applied learning pathways, and educator professional learning support. The Lead supports school and system teams by building capacity, sharing resources, coordinating professional learning, and promoting collaboration across Catholic

schools within the assigned region and as required, across the system.

In all aspects of this leadership role, the incumbent is expected to apply a consistent system wide lens that integrates equity and inclusion, Catholic faith formation, Indigenous education, and special education/accessible learning. This includes supporting educators with EQAO preparation, training and student achievement monitoring. These

considerations are to be embedded in planning, decision making, implementation, coaching, and reporting

responsibilities, whether explicitly stated within the duties below or not. The role requires district wide travel to support

schools and Board initiatives.

In alignment with Board priorities and Ministry direction, the Lead supports the effective implementation, monitoring, and

reporting of assigned funded initiatives. This includes responsibility for budget management, eligible expenditures, documentation, data collection, and Ministry reporting requirements associated with the assigned portfolios and funding

sources.

These positions will commence on August 31, 2026.

Required Qualifications:

• Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Teachers (in good standing).

• Minimum of Religious Education Part 1.

• Additional qualifications in areas aligned with the portfolios (e.g. Guidance and Career Education, Co-operative Education, Computer Studies/Technology, Reading, Mathematics, Special Education, Outdoor Experiential

Education) are considered an asset.

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to Catholic education and a demonstrated faith life.

• Effective communication, organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively at both school and system levels.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in a Catholic school context at the school and/or system level related to

student achievement, literacy, early learning, professional learning and collaboration, with an embedded commitment to equity and inclusion, Indigenous education, special education and EQAO informed improvement.

• Demonstrated strength in analyzing, interpreting and communicating student achievement and related data to support instructional improvement.

• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in supporting technology enabled learning and professional learning for

educators.

Position Summary:

The Innovation and Data Learning Lead provides system leadership to strengthen student achievement and well-being through evidence informed instructional improvement, technology enabled learning and

Position Duties: 1. System Focus Ҍ Data Informed Instruction Improvement (Student Achievement Data):

a. Support system, school and classroom use of student achievement, school climate,

demographic and related data to improve instruction, programming and student outcomes. b. Support data management procedures that result in complete, accurate, reliable, valid and

relevant data, consistent with Board procedure and practice.

c. Support the creating, maintenance and refine processes/tools to organize and present data

in meaningful ways for administrators, school and Board teams. d. Work with educators to analyze trends, determine correlations and identify next steps to

support improved student achievement and well-being indicators.

e. Use data to inform program supports, system initiatives and in collaboration with school

administrators, instructional supports. f. As part of the Board team, support preparation for EQAO.

g. Foster a culture of evidence informed decision making through communication, sharing of resources, innovation and collaboration.

h. Support school improvement planning through the effective use of multiple data sources. i. Prepare data summaries and presentations as required for internal committees, meeting and

system planning.

2. System Focus Ҍ Technology Enabled Learning and Innovation (TELT/Technology):

a. Support technology enabled learning practices that enhance student engagement, achievement, and equitable access to learning.

b. Collaborate with system staff and school teams to integrate technology with current and newly released curriculum and instructional approaches.

c. Build staff capacity through coaching, modelling, co-planning and professional learning related to effective classroom technology use.

d. Support educators in identifying and implementing digital tools and approaches that align with instructional goals and student needs.

e. Support consistent, responsible and ethical technology use aligned with Board expectations

and relevant Ministry direction, including supporting the implementation of policies, procedures and effective and appropriate use of AI.

3. Maker Space/Innovation and Applied Learning:

a. Support the planning and use of Maker Space learning experiences that promote creativity,

problem solving, inquiry, design thinking and hands on learning. b. Assist schools in organizing and implementing maker centered learning opportunities aligned

with curriculum and student achievement needs. c. Support staff capacity building in maker pedagogy, safety practices, resource use

and equitable access. d. Coordinate sharing of effective practices, resources and exemplars across schools.

4. Experiential Learning and Applied Learning Pathways: a. Provide teachers and school administrators with ideas and resources and in person and

virtual support to facilitate experiential learning opportunities inside and outside the school

that contribute to student achievement through Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations. Including but not limited to the Entrepreneurship Program, Skills Ontario work, Outdoor Education and any other appropriately aligned initiatives of the Ministry and the Board.

b. Improve achievement outcomes for students by supporting experiences that strengthen engagement and motivation to learn.

c. Support educators in structuring learning opportunities in ways that reflect the experiential learning cycle.

d. Support the development of student knowledge and skills aligned with the four-step inquiry

process of Education and Career/Life Planning. e. Support implementation of Board wide experiential learning initiatives and partnerships,

where appropriate.

f. Support safe, inclusive, and equitable access to experiential learning opportunities in the

assigned region.

g. Demonstrated ability to provide system level leadership, including coordinating Board wide initiatives.

5. Professional Support and Mentorship:

a. Support the Board's implementation of the New Teacher Induction Program (NTIP) within the

assigned region, as requested by the NTIP Lead, administration and the Board Leadership Team.

b. Support, and/or facilitate mentoring and coaching structures for new teachers.

c. Assist in planning and delivering professional learning that addresses student and teacher learning needs, including classroom management, classroom practice, planning/assessment/evaluation and board/school processes.

d. As part of a Board Team, collaborate with other system leaders to design, coordinate and implement professional learning and professional activity days.

e. Collaborate with system leaders (e.g., Literacy, Math, Special Education, Indigenous Education, Student Services, etc.) to align supports and avoid duplication.

f. Share resources and support communities of practice that strengthen teacher capacity and

coherence across schools.

g. Model effective instructional practices and support job-embedded professional learning where appropriate.

6. Accountability:

a. Support effective stewardship of assigned initiative budgets, including tracking, monitoring and documentation of expenditures.

b. Ensure spending aligns with eligible expense guidelines and Board procedures for assigned funding sources.

c. Support collection of evidence, data and documentation required for reporting and

monitoring of successful practices.

d. Support completion of required Ministry reporting (as applicable) by gathering information from schools, preparing summaries and collaborating with system Leads and business/finance staff.

e. Maintain organized records for funded initiatives and support timelines for submissions and reporting.

f. Prepare materials, summaries and presentations as requested by the Board Leadership Team.

Other duties as assigned by the Supervisory Officer or Designate, consistent with the scope and responsibilities of the position.
