Senior Consultant, Adult Education within the
Adult Education department.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Reporting to the Superintendent of Education, the Senior Consultant, Adult Education coordinates the delivery of the adult, non-credit settlement language and essential skills training in English and French, in accordance with contribution agreements with federal and provincial departments and ministries. The Senior Consultant leads the delivery of adult education programs, including strategic direction, staff management, financial oversight, stakeholder engagement, and program evaluation, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and the needs of diverse adult learners.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of adult learning programs
- Monitor program quality, relevance, and learner outcomes
- Establish performance metrics and evaluation frameworks
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Support staff development and training and foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
- Ensure compliance with organizational requirements
- Ensure programs are accessible and inclusive for diverse adult learners
- Integrate equity principles into program design and delivery
- Support the financial, human resources, payroll, facilities and curriculum delivery aspects of the program, working with the appropriate TCDSB departments and services
- Organize the collection and reporting of data relevant to enrollment, programs and financial statistics, etc.
- Provide guidance, training and performance evaluation of staff as required
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
REQUIREMENTS: - A relevant Degree from a recognized university or college in applied linguistics or related field, TESL Ontario certification
- Minimum of four (4) years of related experience in a leadership role in adult settlement language training
- Experience overseeing the delivery of fully online adult language programs through the national learning management system (Avenue.ca)
- Understanding of Canadian Language Benchmarks/Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens, Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework (OALCF), and adult language training curricula developed for adult non-credit settlement language training in Canada and Ontario
- Familiarity with principles of adult language acquisition and program delivery
- Leadership experience to support, inspire, motivate and engage staff to achieve quality and accountability of programs and services
- Knowledge of the Education Act and related regulations/statutes
- Proven ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups including school communities, school administrators, senior staff, and external agencies
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
- Experience writing reports, proposals and grant applications
- Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of French an asset
- Required to travel to multiple board sites on regular basis (eligibility for reimbursement)
