Jobs In Education is a specialized job board dedicated to connecting job seekers with employment opportunities across the education sector. We serve as a vital recruitment bridge between qualified candidates—including teachers, early childhood educators, support staff, and administrators—and employers like school boards, private schools, and childcare centers. Our primary focus is the Canadian education sector.
Position Overview
We are seeking a part-time Social Media Strategist to fully manage and grow our online presence as an independent contractor.
We need a highly organized self-starter who handles both the planning and production of our social media channels. You must be resourceful and creative—capable of taking our job board listings, resource articles, and upcoming event notices, and repurposing them multiple ways into high-performing formats for different platforms. This role requires someone who plans weeks in advance so that no content opportunities or marketing deadlines are overlooked.
Key Responsibilities
- Full Platform Management: Manage our brand voice, appearance, and daily activity across LinkedIn, TikTok, and Meta platforms (Instagram and Facebook).
- Content Repurposing: Take our long-form articles, featured job board listings, and company resources, and break them down into platform-specific short-form videos, graphics, and text posts.
- Video Editing & Content Creation: Independently shoot and edit mobile video content for TikTok and Reels, and design graphics (e.g., using Canva).
- Advance Planning & Scheduling: Use social media scheduling tools to map out and automate our content calendar in advance.
- Community Management: Monitor and respond to comments daily, moderate discussions, and build organic audience engagement.
- Analytics & Tracking: Monitor weekly performance metrics (reach, engagement, watch time) to identify what content performs best and adjust the plan accordingly.
- Email marketing campaign management and execution: Review, build and edit email marketing campaigns to both job seekers and employers
- Survey Analytics: Review survey results to inform team of trending topics, and make edits to future survey requests.
Qualifications
- End-to-End Content Production: Proven experience independently growing social accounts. You must be able to write copy, create graphics, and edit video without relying on external designers or editors.
- Resourcefulness & Organization: Able to take raw information and maximize its value across channels. You must be comfortable working independently and keeping a content calendar full without constant supervision.
- Platform & Tool Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Meta, LinkedIn, and TikTok algorithms. Proficiency with social media scheduling and planning software is required.
- Education Sector Knowledge: Priority will be given to candidates with knowledge of or familiarity with the Canadian education system (school boards, hiring practices, etc.). * Alternative: If you do not have direct education experience but are highly resourceful and know how to engage this specific audience, please apply and be prepared to explain how you will bridge that gap.
- Note: Candidates with strictly agency-only backgrounds will not be considered.
Role Logistics
- Type: Part-Time, Independent Contractor (3 month rolling contracts)
- Location: 100% Remote
How to Apply
Please submit your resume along with a portfolio or links to social accounts you manage. Please ensure your portfolio highlights your video editing capabilities and your ability to grow an audience organically.
If you do not have direct experience in the education sector, include a brief note explaining why your background makes you a strong, adaptable fit for the Jobs In Education community.
