Hours: 7 hours/day with 30 minute unpaid lunch

Salary: $69,698.97 to $74,179.62 with Competitive Compensation and Benefits Packages

The SNCDSB Positive Behaviour Support Worker will be a valued and key member of our internal Mental Health and Well-being Team, and will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide both in person and virtual support to our students, families, staff and communities within the SNCDSB.

The Positive Behaviour Support Worker will enhance school board capacity to support students with challenges, with the following key responsibilities:

  • Is directly involved with students who are dealing with a wide range of social, emotional, behavioural, or learning challenges;
  • Will work with school personnel to contribute to the provision of a spectrum of services to students within the school environment;
  • Can collaborate with principals, teachers, educational assistants, parents / guardians, and other support services personnel;
  • Works collaboratively with other agencies and services outside of the schools to meet the educational needs of students;
  • Ability to facilitate behaviour management planning and implementation, social or life skill tutoring, as well as engage directly with students in activities involving sport, drama, music, or in-class support;
  • Engages in multidisciplinary consultation, school team meetings, case conferences and I.P.R.C.s providing tools for developing pathways to support students in need;
  • Ability to manage a caseload, effectively prioritize and provide follow up on a case-by-case basis using evidence and measurement based care;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously on a day-to-day basis;
  • Ability to build safe, supportive, and genuine relationships with all members of school communities;
  • Maintain case files and reports that are in compliance with PHIPA; and
  • Maintains confidentiality and the dignity of all they serve; and
  • Is willing to travel throughout SNCDSB
Position Qualifications:

  • Child and Youth Worker diploma or related program
  • Minimum three (3) years working experience, including experience working with children and youth who have special education needs
  • Training and experience implementing ABA principles would be an asset
  • Strong knowledge of technology and Google Apps for Education
Conditions of Employment:

  • Must undergo a successful Vulnerable Sector Screening check; and
  • Successful Completion of all Safety training courses
