Reporting to the Superintendent of Education/Inclusive Student Services the Senior Manager and Clinical Lead and Attendance Services is responsible for working with a committed team within this school Board.

The Senior Manager and Clinical Lead ensures high standards of service delivery of mental health and well-being services to support school engagement, attendance and achievement.

As an intersectional leader, you will collaborate with various internal and external community partners to facilitate equitable, accessible, and high-impact services for students, families, and schools across the Durham Region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership includes support in following (but not limited to) areas of focus:
  • Clinical & Administrative Leadership: Lead the effective delivery of mental health and well-being services, crisis intervention, threat/risk assessments, suicide prevention, and traumatic event responses using an anti-oppressive, equity-informed framework.
  • System Capacity Building: Work through interdepartmental initiatives and collaborative community agreements to develop services that address student mental health, build system-wide capacity, and raise awareness of student well-being needs.
  • Legislative & Policy Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with privacy legislation, the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (reporting of child abuse and neglect), and relevant Ministry of Education guidelines.
  • Team Guidance: Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and professional consultation to Social Work and Attendance staff, fostering a culture of mutual respect, continuous learning, and equity.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Standing: Registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
  • Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience providing mental health assessments, developing evidence-based intervention plans, and providing brief counseling to children, youth, and families.
  • Supervisory Experience: Demonstrated experience providing administrative and clinical supervision within a social work or mental health service delivery framework.
  • Demonstrated clinical and administrative supervisory experience within a school board environment.
  • Proven management skills with a track record of motivating, leading, and empowering diverse, multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Innovative and creative approach to designing school-based mental health interventions that support diverse student populations and families.
  • A deep, demonstrated commitment to practicing through an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and trauma-informed lens.
