The Durham District School Board acknowledges that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships, both historic and modern, with the territories upon which our school board and schools are located. Today, this area is home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island. We acknowledge that the Durham Region forms a part of the traditional and treaty territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, the Mississauga Peoples and the treaty territory of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation. It is on these ancestral and treaty lands that we teach, live and learn.

TEACHING AND LEARNING SUMMER WRITING Grade 1 - 8

This is a 45-hour curriculum writing position that is to take place outside of regular teaching hours.

Program Dates:

July to August, 2026: Approximately 45 hours to be completed with the support of a team leader. Some in-person and virtual team meeting times will be required.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate to create resources that support admin and educators aligned with the Ontario Curriculum for Grades 1-8.Uphold DDSB's commitment to Indigenous Education and Human Rights, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Racism
The successful candidate must have:

Understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy, anti-oppressive education, and differentiated approaches to engage all studentsClear, accessible, and professional writing style with an ability to translate pedagogical concepts into practical, educator-friendly languageExperience developing professional learning materials (e.g. workshop guides, facilitator notes, slide decks, or toolkits)Experience creating tiered activities that support diverse learnersWillingness to revise, receive peer feedback, and co-write content with consistency of voice and purposeSuccessful classroom instructional practices that integrate evidence-based instruction and culturally responsive and relevant and anti-oppressive practicesUnderstanding of the Ministry of Education's High-Impact Instructional Practices in Mathematics (e.g., using explicit instruction, choosing appropriate concrete tools/manipulatives, and structuring problem-solving contexts).Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities both in person and within a digital platform
