This is a full-time permanent position starting as soon as possible. Hours of work are 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day. Why AUArts? The Opportunity Competition #2324-DE-EP-14 Reporting to the Director, Campus Operations , The Manager provides health, safety, security and environment oversight for the university staff students, and visitiors, including day-to-day administration of Campus Operations. This role oversees all aspects of the University Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and ensures compliance in accordance with Health & Safety policies, procedures, and legislation. The Manager provides supervisory support to casual staff and contract staff, including internal and external contractors. Key Responsibilities: Supervision Responsible for supervision of contract security staff including scheduling, development of standing orders, orientation, and training. Ensures a high-quality customer service to staff and students. Provides input into staff discipline or dismissal actions to the service provider. Assists with supervision of contract custodial, handyman, and food service staff. Ensures a high-quality customer service to staff and students. Health, Safety, Security and Environment Oversight Responsible for managing confidential personal information relating to Health & Safety policies and procedures Assists with administrating the Health, Safety and Environment program at the university Responsible the day-to-day waste management program at the university. This includes expanding the internal recycling & compost program and coordinating timely scheduling of bin pick-ups Responsible for the management and promotion of the AUArts Safe app / AUArts Security Twitter feed Develops maintains and controls all aspects of the institutions Emergency Response Plan (ERP). Works closely with external consultants as required to ensure effectiveness and compliance Responsible for overseeing the Fire Warden program Responsible for the essential operation of computerized access control and CCTV recording system. Oversees the issuance of access control cards to all current staff and students, based upon predetermined clearance, as well as card printing and audit control. This includes ensuring appropriate security level programming. Responsible for all the institute’s keys, including tracking of sign-out and return, and maintenance of key database Responsible for the locker management program for the university. This includes issuance of lockers to students, managing the locker database and the year-end cleaning and maintenance of the lockers Responsible for the lost and found program for the university. This includes ensuring lost and found items are tracked, stored, and turned out in the appropriate manner Responsible for the hard-key management program, including tracking of sign-out and return, and maintenance of key database Facility Management Assists with the administration of the day-to-day operation within Campus Operations. This includes working closely with SAIT and both internal and external contractors. Assists with planning of facilities projects (short-mid-long term) Tracks progress and coordinates reporting of all Capital and Renovation Projects including but not limited to; BLIMS, AUArts CAPEX, AUArts Evergreen and CMR grants and allocations Reviews all relevant external invoices and ensures accuracy in both charges and required backup documentation. Tracks and codes invoices in preparation for signature by the appropriate budget holder Stand-In Management Provides stand-in support and back-up for the Director, Campus Operations during absences including attending/running committees, authority to make departmental decisions that require immediate action Provides on-call support as required Qualifications: The following qualifications have been determined to promote likelihood of success in the role. In alignment with the principles of inclusion, individuals with an alternative equivalent qualification may be considered. 2-year Diploma in a relevant field such as Facilities, HSE, or Security 3-5 years experience in coordinating projects related to facilities and Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Demonstrated administrative experience including report writing and budget tracking Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (O365) Demonstrated accomplishment in Health & Safety training courses is an asset Facility Management Professional (FMP) designation is a asset Demonstrated experience in formal project management is an asset Demonstrated experience in security and facility management is an asset Competencies: AUArts has established five common competencies to promote unity of vision and action in the organization: Healthy Spaces Active Inclusion Creative Innovation Collaborative Practice Strategic Leadership What We Offer Comprehensive benefits package, including pension and health spending account Annual vacation starting at 24 days, Personal days, and other types of leave Paid time off over the University closure from December 24 – 31 The starting annual salary is dependent upon skills, education and experience.
