Dryden/Sioux Lookout/Fort Frances/Stratton/Atikokan (All School or Board Office Locations)
The Northwest Catholic District School Board is a system committed to Catholic Education. The Board serves the
communities of Dryden, Fort Frances, Sioux Lookout, Atikokan and Stratton in Northwestern Ontario. The Board operates five elementary schools, serving a total of approximately 1300 students.
The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for leading and coordinating the operational cyber security program for The
Northwest Catholic District School Board (TNCDSB) while supporting the safe, ethical and compliant use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies across instructional and administrative environments.
This role provides hands on cyber security leadership, risk management, incident response coordination and vendor/application security review. The position also supports AI governance and staff awareness to ensure that emerging
technologies are implemented responsibly and in alignment with legislative, regulatory and Board requirements.
The role works closely with Information Systems staff, senior administration, Privacy of Information/Records Management Officer and external partners to strengthen TNCDSB's cyber resilience and digital trust.
Required Qualifications:
• Post secondary education in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, CEH or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience in cyber security operations, IT risk management or information security.
• Experience working with cloud platforms and SaaS environments (e.g. Microsoft 365, Google Workspace).
• Strong understanding of cyber security principles, threat landscapes and defensive controls.
• Knowledge of identity and access management, end point security, patch and vulnerability management and
incident response.
• Familiarity with data privacy obligations and public sector regulatory requirements.
• Foundational understanding of AI technologies and associated risks.
• Strong understanding of networking and network securities (e.g. IDS/IPS systems, web filtering policies, DNS, routing, switching, TCP/IP, NAT, VPNs, SD-WAN).
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with sound professional judgement.
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated high degree of discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively while collaborating within a team environment.
• Superior interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.
• Valid Ontario Driver's License.
Salary/Benefits:
• $88,835 to $96,508 (dependent upon experience and qualifications).

CYBER SECURITY ANALYST Title: Cyber Security Analyst
Reports to: Manager of Information Systems
Supervises: Technical Support Specialists (shared supervision)

Position Summary: The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for leading and coordinating the operational cyber security

Position Responsibilities:
1. Cyber Security Operations:
a. Coordinate day to day cyber security operations, including monitoring, detection, investigation and response to security incidents.
b. Lead and support incident response activities, including documentation, containment, remediation and post incident reviews.
c. Maintain and improve security controls across endpoints, identity systems, networks and cloud services.
d. Support vulnerability management, remediation tracking and security configuration
standards.

2. Risk Management, Compliance and Governance:
a. Conduct security and privacy reviews of software applications, cloud services and third party
vendors annually. b. Support third party and supply chain risk management activities, including contract and
renewal reviews. c. Contribute to cyber security maturity assessments, risk registers and required reporting.
d. Ensure alignment with Ontario public sector cyber security standards and Ministry reporting requirements.
3. AI Oversight and Responsible Implementation:
a. Provide technical and risk guidance on the evaluation and deployment of AI enabled tools
and platforms. b. Assess AI solutions for data protection, privacy, security and ethical considerations prior to
adoption.
c. Support the development and maintenance of AI governance frameworks, acceptable use
guidance and safeguards.
d. Monitor emerging AI risks and recommend mitigations appropriate for K-12 environments.
4. Training, Awareness and Advisory: a. Design and deliver cyber security training for staff.
b. Provide targeted guidance for administrators and systems leaders on cyber risk and incident response.
c. Translate complex technical and regulatory concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-
technical audiences.
5. Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
a. Work collaboratively with Information Systems staff on secure system design and implementation.
b. Engage with provincial partners, peer boards and sector groups (e.g. ECNO, Ministry initiatives) to stay current with best practices.
c. Monitor emerging threats, regulatory changes and sector trends to proactively improve
TNCDSB's security posture.
Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Information Systems, consistent with the scope and responsibilities of the position.
