Job Description

FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Residence Manager, the Student Life Animator is responsible for organizing and hosting activities, providing guidance, and ensuring the safety of the students living at the residence.

IN GENERAL, THIS POSITION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help the students with their evening homework;
  • Organize activities for students and take part in the activities;
  • See to the safety and well-being of students;
  • All other tasks deemed relevant by his/her immediate superior.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in guidance counselling, animation, recreology or social work, and relevant experience.

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be fluent in at least two (2) of the three (3) working languages of the Board (Inuktitut, French, English).
  • Knowledge of Inuit culture, traditions and history (as asset);
  • Ability to work in a team and autonomously;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent organization;
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks, set priorities and solve problems;
  • Experience animating groups;


WORK SCHEDULE:

35 hours per week (flexibility required)

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2107: from $54,862 to $91,023 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
