Teaching Position (1.0 FTE)
SPECIAL EDUCATION COORDINATOR
(Supporting Our Lady of the Way, St. Mary and St. Patrick's Schools)
The Special Education Coordinator provides teacher support and system leadership, direction, and coordination in special education consistent with the Board's Special Education Plan. The Coordinator acts as a resource for principals,
SERTs, and classroom educators by supporting effective programming, evidence-informed instructional practices, and inclusive approaches that respond to the strengths and needs of all learners. Within the scope of this role, EQAO and other
relevant student learning evidence are used to support system and school improvement. In addition, Equity and Inclusive Education and Indigenous Education are intentionally woven through planning, professional learning, and program
supports to reduce barriers and improve outcomes for students. The Coordinator also supports school teams in developing and strengthening student self-regulation supports and strategies that promote well-being, engagement, and
readiness to learn, in collaboration with and/or under the guidance of the Special Education Administrator and other
system colleagues.
Required Qualifications:
• Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Teachers (in good standing).
• Minimum of Religious Education Part 1.
• Special Education Specialist qualifications.
• Previous leadership experience at a school and/or system level.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction, special education, including experience leading system wide initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and support colleagues.
• Experience with data analysis and strategic planning.
• Effective communication, collaboration and problem solving skills.
• Background in instructional leadership, professional development and/or change management.
• Demonstrated ability to meet school and/or Board's deadlines.
• Sound understanding of relevant Board Special Education procedures as well as relevant Ministry of Education policies and priorities.
Notes:
1. The salary range for this position is $62,760 to $119,949 and is based on submitted QECO rating and previous
teaching experience.
2. This position will be advertised externally until 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026.
