Job Description
FUNCTION & DUTIES:
- Visit schools in Nunavik communities to provide support to Kindergarten teachers in the Inuktitut sector;
- Consult with teachers and conduct training sessions;
- Ensure the implementation and follow-up of kindergarten program;
- Research, adapt and promote materials suited for Kindergarten;
- Consult with communities and other education consultants;
- Report progress regularly;
- Carry out related tasks at the discretion of the immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Holds a recognized teaching authorization from the MEQ under the Education Act for Cree, Inuit and Naskapi Native Persons;
- Experience Teaching in a Nunavik Classroom with Kativik Ilisarniliriniq.
The School Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Fluency in spoken and written in Inuktitut.
- Experience with creating workshops, conducting presentations or public speaking is an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of Inuktitut Curriculum within Kativik Ilisarniliriniq Schools is an asset.
- Ability to use Microsoft 365 is considered an asset.
- Required to travel to 14 communities and 18 schools in Nunavik and Montreal as needed.
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2104: from $56,670 to $105,432 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
