Job Description

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of First Language Curriculum Development, the Education Consultant for Kindergarten is responsible for the program monitoring and oversight and the development and implementation of materials suitable for Inuktitut Kindergarten teachers.

FUNCTION & DUTIES:

  • Visit schools in Nunavik communities to provide support to Kindergarten teachers in the Inuktitut sector;
  • Consult with teachers and conduct training sessions;
  • Ensure the implementation and follow-up of kindergarten program;
  • Research, adapt and promote materials suited for Kindergarten;
  • Consult with communities and other education consultants;
  • Report progress regularly;
  • Carry out related tasks at the discretion of the immediate supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Holds a recognized teaching authorization from the MEQ under the Education Act for Cree, Inuit and Naskapi Native Persons;
  • Experience Teaching in a Nunavik Classroom with Kativik Ilisarniliriniq.


The School Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluency in spoken and written in Inuktitut.
  • Experience with creating workshops, conducting presentations or public speaking is an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of Inuktitut Curriculum within Kativik Ilisarniliriniq Schools is an asset.
  • Ability to use Microsoft 365 is considered an asset.
  • Required to travel to 14 communities and 18 schools in Nunavik and Montreal as needed.


CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2104: from $56,670 to $105,432 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
