Thank you,
Wachiya / Hello
Located in the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach, 15 kilometres from Schefferville, Québec, Jimmy Sandy Memorial School (JSMS) is the centerpiece for Education in Kawawachikamach. We welcome Naskapi beneficiaries from all grade levels from Pre-Kindergarten to Secondary 5 (Grade 11), as well as Adult and Vocational Education. Uniquely, JSMS offers Naskapi immersion to students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 2, at which point students begin English instruction and Naskapi becomes a subject.
JSMS is proud to derive many benefits from its particularly small student population and class size including an enriched total experience for all students. We provide an inclusive environment where students and staff have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and where the emphasis is on individual growth and development so that students are culturally proud and confident. By working together our students will be successful in their goals and dreams.
