FUNCTION: Under the Assistant Director of Complementary Services, the Education Consultant Special Education will work in close collaboration with the Inuit special education consultants in all areas of special education. IN GENERAL, THIS POSITION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES: Assess and diagnose students with suspected learning problems and emotional and/or behavioural problems in school and draft individual reports with recommendations; Work with school personnel to develop programs to help identify students, including those profoundly disabled, and organize services for them; Provide consultations and recommendations related to the allocation of special education technicians; Communicate with Health Services and Social Services when necessary concerning individual students; Provide training and support to the special education teachers in each school, among other things, by raising awareness of the RAI (response to intervention) approach among...
